There are 20 districts in Paris, their numbers start from Louvre and go spirally clockwise.
From the sixth to the tenth districts.
The sixth district – Luxembourg
(Arrondissement du Luxembourg), also known as Saint-Germain, is located on the
left bank of the Seine. This district is also one of the oldest in Paris. There
are the classic 6 -7- storey buildings, with huge porches, huge staircases, brick
fireplaces and French windows to the floor. A real treasure for tourists is –
the Luxembourg Gardens (Jardin du Luxembourg, in abbreviated form - Loco), the
royal palace and park complex, an area of 26 hectares, provide a wonderful

In the
sixth district you will also find many interesting churches: St. Severen (XV c.)
(St-Séverin), the church of Saint - Médard (XV century) (L'église Saint-Médard),
the Paris mosque (XX century) (Grande Mosquée de Paris).
The
seventh district is the Palais Bourbon
(Arrondissement du Palais Bourbon), or the Eiffel Tower district (la tour
Eiffel), located on the left bank of the Seine. It is a political heart of
Paris. Many ministries and departments are concentrated here, as well as the
complex of the National Assembly of France – the Bourbon Palace (Palais
Bourbon). The main attraction of the county, also known as the symbol of Paris
is – the Eiffel Tower and a wonderful park – Field of Mars (Champ de Mars).
Nearby is Les Invalides (L'hotel national des Invalides), which houses the tomb

The eighth district – the Champs-
Elysées (Arrondissement de l'Élysée), located on the right bank
of the Seine. On the Champs Elysees (avenue des Champs-Elysees), stretching for
two kilometers in length and 70 meters in width, with well-known the Elysee
Palace in Paris (Accueil Élysée), which is the residence of the French president,

historical sites and buildings, including the Arc de Triomphe (Voie Triomphale)
on the square of Charles de Gaulle (Place Ch. De Gaulle), where annually on the

ninth district – the Opera
(Arrondissement de l'Opera), is located on the right bank of the Seine, and was
named after the famous Opéra Garnier, also known as the Palais Garnier. The

known as a library-museum, which is a part of the French National Library
(Bibliothèque Nationale or BNF), and it is considered as the largest library in

The Opera – is an important commercial and financial district, with complexes Banque de France, the big department stores Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, numerous shopping malls of the XIX century. The
tenth district, North Station
(Enclos-St-Laurent, Arrondissement de l'Entrepot), located around the two stations:
the Eastern and Northern (Gare de l'Est and Gare du Nord). This area had arisen
on the site of the former vineyards. This district became the home for many
immigrants selling ethnic goods in their own shops and markets, here you will
also find the famous African market Marche Dejean.
